Succumb to the allure of the Sicilian breeze, the magnetic people, vibrant cuisine, and dramatic landscapes. This amazing island bursts with ancient temples and Roman ruins. Blood oranges, lemons, sand-colored temples, and glorious seaside escapes tantalize and restore. It’s a mythical land that rivals Greece for its Greek architecture and boasts culinary delights straight from the sun and sea. Savor all that is Sicily.

Day 1


Land in Sicily at the Catania-Fontanarossa Airport, and meet your Travel Director. Take a private transfer to your hotel to check in.


After taking some time to rest and relax, meet up with your group for a welcome aperitif. Discuss the adventures that await you with your Travel Director, then sit down for a delicious dinner at the hotel.

Day 2


Rise early for breakfast before heading to Catania’s famed spice and fish market. Explore streets lined with local producers and fishmongers.


Tour the Benanti Winery, a family-operated vineyard creating award-winning wines. Taste several of their popular varietals, and listen as their wine experts discuss growing wine in the Etna region. Enjoy panoramic views of Mt. Etna and surrounding vineyards. Dinner is on your own at our hotel this evening.

Day 3

Piazza Armerina

Travel west to Piazza Armerina — a town featuring beautiful castles, cathedrals, and the famous Villa Romana del Casale. Enjoy a tour of the 4th-century villa with a local guide, and discover its 3,500 square meters of Roman mosaics. Enjoy lunch at your leisure.


Return to the hotel for some rest. After, learn the art of Italian cocktail making at the hotel’s bar before dinner. Snack on olives, anchovies, and bread while watching the bartender use Italian spirits like Amaro Averna and Solerno to craft delicious drinks. Savor a mouthwatering dinner afterward.

Day 4


Sit back during a leisurely breakfast, then take a drive to Taormina. Greet this popular resort town seated on the Gulf of Naxos. Follow a local guide on a walk through the city, touring the impressive Greek theater and exploring the many shops, restaurants, and cafés. Lunch is on your own.

This afternoon gather for a hands-on pasta workshop at a lovely private villa in the heart of Taormina. After, enjoy a dinner of your creations paired with Etna wines.

Day 5

Mt. Etna Crater

Get the chance to trek up the slopes of Mt. Etna today. Ride up from the base of the mountain in specially-fitted Land Rovers. Follow an expert guide on foot and hike up to the central crater of Mt. Etna. Enjoy moonlike landscapes, ancient lava flows, and craters.


Head to Planeta Winery on the north side of Mt. Etna. Tour the grounds of this modern winery, and learn how they planted Nerello and Carricante vines among the lava flows. Sample wines and enjoy a delicious lunch. After, unwind at the property and enjoy dinner at the hotel.

Day 6


Discover Agrigento this morning, home to the Valley of the Temples, an impressive archaeological site of Greek art and architecture. Stroll with a local guide on a tour of the temples built between 510 BC and 430 BC and listen to ancient stories. Enjoy lunch on your own in Agrigento.


Arrive in Menfi this afternoon, and settle in at our lovely wine resort surrounded by vineyards. Sit back or go for a walk in one of the nearby nature reserves or the olive grove of Capparrina. Savor a magnificent meal at the luxury hotel’s restaurant paired with their estate wines.

Day 7


Start the day with a relaxing yoga session, followed by breakfast. Join the wine resort’s chef for a hands-on cooking workshop, and learn about seasonal ingredients. Prepare a light lunch paired with sommelier-picked wine.


Visit a local flour mill producing tumminia flour — used make the “black bread” of Castelvetrano. Learn about Sicily’s Slow Food Movement. Return to the resort, where our chef will use the flour to make hand-rolled pasta and bread. Celebrate Sicily during our farewell dinner.

Savor your final breakfast in Sicily and check out. Take a private transfer to Palermo's Falcone–Borsellino Airport for flights home. Arrivederci!

Activity Level

This trip has been designed to include daily exploratory walks that range from one to three hours. Guests should feel comfortable meandering along cobbled surfaces, walking up and down stairs, and sauntering down uneven nature paths.
