Day 1

Bari 

Land in the Bari Karol Wojtyła Airport and meet your friendly Travel Director. Take a private transfer to the hotel in Lecce.

Lecce

Check in and unwind amid your stunning surroundings. Come together for a short, exploratory walk through Lecce with your Travel Director. Enjoy aperitifs before a welcome dinner back at the hotel.

Day 2

Lecce  

Greet Lecce this morning with a stroll through the impressive food market with a local guide and expert in peasant cooking. Entice your senses while wandering through the bountiful market stalls and tasting unique delicacies. Strike up a conversation with local farmers and producers.

Squinzano

After gathering goods at the market, head to the nearby town of Squinzano for a cooking workshop with our local guide. Prepare a three-course lunch of regional dishes paired with local wines. Relax on a picturesque ride back to Lecce in a classic car, and enjoy dinner on your own.

Day 3

Otranto

Wake up early to journey south to the sunny, seaside village of Otranto, filled with history, architecture, seafront restaurants, and white, sandy beaches. Stop at an olive oil farm on 150 hectares — a tranquil space to enjoy a picnic, olive oil tasting, and traditional dance performance.

Lecce

Head back to Lecce, and follow your Travel Director on a guided walk through the capital city’s maze of narrow streets. Learn about the Roman era history and ruins from Lecce’s past, and discover Baroque architectural extravagance. Venture out for dinner on your own in Lecce.

Day 4

Ostuni

Rise early to check out and head onward to Savelletri, a seaside village in Northeastern Puglia. Make a stop at Ostuni, a white, medieval city with panoramas of the countryside and Adriatic. The contrasting colors of white and blue are a feast for the eyes. Lunch is at your leisure in Ostuni.

Savelletri

Tour a winery in the heart of Valle d’Itria, producing local grape varietals like Verdeca and Bianca d’Alessio Fiano. Arrive at Savelletri, and settle into our exquisitely refurbished masseria, or farmhouse. Head to the property’s four-star restaurant for dinner with local wines.

Day 5

Bari

Head to Bari, the busiest passenger port of the Adriatic. Wander the Bari Vecchia — a weave of streets with cafés and restaurants. Pause to watch women making famous orecchiette pasta in the streets. Tour architectural landmarks and enjoy a lunch at your leisure.

Polignano a Mare

Visit Polignano a Mare, just south of Bari. Perched on a limestone cliff with views of the Adriatic, this tiny seaside town is truly enchanting. Meander through its winding streets and eat gelato on the beach. Handcraft our dinner of orecchiette pasta during a workshop back at the masseria.

Day 6

Altamura

Discover ancient Altamura this morning, a town known for its delicious large knots of bread. Visit a bakery with a traditional oven, and learn about popular Pane di Altamura and focaccia. Enjoy some freshly baked bread before continuing on to Matera.

Matera

Explore the ancient city of Matera with an expert guide. Learn how humans settled in the natural canyon wall caves 9,000 years ago and how the caves were extended into grottoes and stone neighborhoods, currently filled with modern businesses. Lunch is on your own in Matera.

Day 7

Martina Franca

Roam Martina Franca — once a fully-walled town with 245 towers, now only four gates remain amid grand piazzas and outdoor cafés. Stop inside one of the famous trulli — white stone cylindrical homes with conical limestone-tiled roofs. Enjoy a homemade lunch with a local family.

Alberobello

Continue to the village of Alberobello whose iconic trulli have made it a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tour this charming village, strolling down narrow streets and stopping in artisan shops and cafés. After a full afternoon, savor a memorable farewell dinner at the masseria.

Bari

Indulge in your final breakfast in Puglia, and check out of the hotel. Your Travel Director will accompany you via private transfer to the Bari Karol Wojtyła Airport. Say arrivederci to the heel of Italy’s boot! Not ready to leave? Continue on a four-day extension to Rome.

Travel to Rome and check into your hotel. Meet your Travel Director for a guided tour of St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museums. End the in-depth tour at the Sistine Chapel and gaze upon this masterful piece of art. Enjoy dinner on your own tonight.

Day 9

This morning, we’ll head to the winemaking town of Frascati just outside Rome’s city center. Discover the historic center of Frascati and see the catacombs, Mausoleum of Cecilia Metella, and more. After, enjoy a wine tasting and lunch at a lovely estate set upon acres of vineyards and olive groves.

Day 10

Meet in the hotel lobby after breakfast to embark on a private tour of Rome. Walk along narrow alleys, and pass through impressive piazzas. Visit the famed Colosseum, and learn its storied history. Take a seat at the Spanish Steps to soak up the energy of Rome. Dinner is on your own.
